Dog Reactivity Behaviour Training in Sydney

Reactive Behaviour

Reactivity can be tough for dogs and for the people who love them. If walks have started to feel stressful, you’re not alone, and there’s a lot we can do to help (for both ends of the leash).

Maybe you’re hoping for a calm, enjoyable walk, but the moment another dog (or a person) appears, your dog barks, lunges, or panics, leaving you feeling embarrassed, overwhelmed, or unsure what to do next. That pattern is what we call “reactivity”.

Reactive behaviour is usually a sign your dog is struggling to cope with something in their environment. Triggers vary, but common causes include fear, over arousal, lack of early socialisation, past experiences, or simply not yet having the skills to handle busy situations.

Reactivity doesn’t automatically mean aggression but it does mean your dog needs a thoughtful plan and consistent support, so things don’t escalate over time.

The good news:

With the right approach, reactive dogs can learn to feel safer and make better choices.
Support starts with day to day management as well as a step by step training plan.
